The Ayres Law Group

Air Quality

Ayres Law Group attorneys have been at the forefront of air regulation under the Clean Air Act since 1971. Our attorneys have deep experience working with the Clean Air Act and corresponding state and local air programs. We counsel and represent clients on every facet of domestic air quality law, policy, and regulation. We have been involved in some of the most significant Clean Air Act cases since the Act’s inception. Our track record includes a major role in the settlements of each of the three largest Clean Air Act enforcement cases in U.S. history, and winning the largest monetary settlement of a private air pollution matter in U.S. history. We provide sophisticated, creative, and efficient services on all air quality matters.

We regularly advise and represent multinational companies, for example, on matters arising under the Montreal Protocol regulating ozone-depleting substances. Other representative international work includes providing advice to China's environmental agency regarding revisions to the Chinese air pollution law, and advising clients participating in rulemaking proceedings in Canada and Australia. We work closely with clients to further their interests under international agreements by influencing the domestic policy process at home.

Our air practice is dynamic and has evolved to encompass related energy and climate matters. We provide counseling on air quality standards for a range of technologies, materials, and industries, including carbon storage technologies, renewable energy permits, and fossil-based fuels. We assist and represent a diverse range of clients, including utilities, oil refineries, chemical manufacturers, solar and other clean tech companies, foreign and domestic governmental entities, individuals, state and local governments, and not-for-profit organizations. Our dedicated, experienced attorneys provide thoughtful, effective strategies and advice to achieve our clients’ goals.
