We have broad experience in shaping environmental policy at the state, national, and international levels. At the federal level, we are acquainted with key environmental policymakers from members of Congress to the EPA and Congressional staffs. Not all these policymakers are publicly known – many of the most influential are deep in the EPA or Congressional bureaucracy. Because of our many contacts, we usually know, and have worked with, the people at both levels. We help our clients identify the critical decision makers on their particular problem and fashion a plan to reach them with persuasive messages. At the international level, we advised China's environmental agency regarding revisions to the Chinese clean air act.

We are also experienced litigators who have been involved in many of the most important environmental cases, from the early cases interpreting the key provisions of the 1970 Clean Air Act to the Supreme Court’s recent global warming decision, Massachusetts v. EPA and major public nuisance litigation on behalf of the Attorney General of North Carolina.
